FEINSTEIN CHALLENGE

March 1 through April 30, 2013

Time for the Feinstein Challenge.
As for the past 15 years, the Feinstein Foundation is distributing $1 million to hunger fighting agencies throughout the country.  Our share of Feinstein dollars will be based on the amount of donations made here in our own community.  To quote Alan Feinstein,

"Whatever you donate to this agency,
I will add money to it.  The more
you give, the more of my $1 million
they'll get -- Thanks to you!"

Donations may be money, food items (count as $1 per pound), and pledges for future donations.

If you want your can drive or fund-raiser to have the maximum impact, the time is now!

Affiliated Foods, McElroy, Blin and Volunteers

 January 28, 2013
Over 7,000 pounds of salvage grocery items arrived at the Food Pantry.  This donation was arranged by Gary McElroy. Randy Blin provided transportation from the warehouse in Norfolk, Nebraska to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in Waterloo.  The Food Bank brought it on home to to us.  Shown here are Food Bank volunteers handing off to Independence area volunteers.

Twenty-six volunteers helped with this project.  Not all are represented her.  We catch only glimpses of the more elusive like Justin, and Doug managed to avoid the camera altogether. Our photographer, David Foix, worked as hard as anyone when he wasn't recording the event. And in respect for their privacy, no photos were published of Holly and the Success Center students or of the young men from Four Oaks.  Could not have done it without them.
To all of you present and those who wanted to but could not be there that day,
job well done and thank you.
To Gary McElroy and Randy Blin, thank you very much.
